Orange County home at dusk with professionally designed landscape lighting

Pricing

How Much Does Landscape Lighting Cost in Orange County?

Straight numbers. What drives the price of a professional low-voltage system, what each tier includes, and where cheap quotes cut their corners.

Real ranges

What projects actually cost

Every property is quoted individually after a nighttime walkthrough, but nearly every project we install lands in one of these three tiers.

Entry & path lighting

Low four figures

A focused scope — front entry, walkway and a few key trees. Typically 8–14 fixtures on one transformer.

  • Solid brass path and accent fixtures
  • One transformer, one or two zones
  • Astronomic timer included

Whole-property system

Mid four figures

The most common project we install — facade, trees, paths and patio treated as one design. Typically 20–40 fixtures.

  • Full on-site design with a live nighttime demo
  • Layered facade, tree, path and hardscape lighting
  • Zoned scenes and dimming

Estate & large properties

Five figures and up

Large lots, long driveways, motor courts and mature specimen trees. Engineered multi-transformer systems.

  • Voltage-engineered long wire runs
  • Multiple transformers and control zones
  • Coordinated with landscape and pool contractors

The variables

What moves the number up or down

Fixture count and material

The biggest single driver. Solid brass fixtures cost more each than aluminum and outlast them several times over — we do not install anything else, because replacing corroded fixtures is the most expensive way to buy cheap ones.

Wire runs and voltage

Long driveways and large lots need heavier gauge wire, multi-tap transformers and sometimes several transformer locations. Engineering that correctly is what makes the last fixture match the first.

Access and hardscape

Trenching through established planting is straightforward; coring finished stone or coordinating with a mason mid-build takes more time. Retrofitting an existing yard costs more per fixture than lighting a new landscape build.

Control and zoning

A simple astronomic timer is included in every system. App control, dimming zones and RGBW color-changing fixtures add cost but are far cheaper to include at install than to add later.

Beyond the install

Retrofits, repairs and maintenance

Not every job is a new system. Halogen-to-LED retrofits typically run a fraction of a new install because the fixtures, wire and transformers often stay. Service calls for existing systems land in the low hundreds for most properties, and annual maintenance plans are priced by fixture count after a first walkthrough.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why is there such a wide price range between companies?
Fixture material and installation method. A system built from powder-coated aluminum fixtures with unsealed splices costs less on day one and far more by year three. Solid brass fixtures, waterproofed splices and engineered wire runs cost more up front and very little to own.
Is the design consultation really free?
Yes. We come out after dark, set real fixtures on your property, and leave you with a fixed written price. There is no charge and no obligation whether or not you go ahead.
Can a system be installed in phases to spread the cost?
Yes, and it is common. We design the whole property up front, size the transformer for the final build, and install in stages — front first, backyard later — so nothing gets torn out or re-done.
What does it cost to run?
A typical LED system adds a few dollars a month to the power bill — roughly what a single interior light bulb costs to run, because the whole system is low-voltage LED.
