Process
How installation works
- 01
Evening walkthrough
We meet at the property at dusk so we can see how the yard and house read after dark.
- 02
Live demo
We set real fixtures on the property so you see the effect before you commit.
- 03
Fixed written quote
You get a written quote with a fixed price for the scope we agreed on.
- 04
Clean trenching
Wire is buried and hidden, and planting and hardscape are left tidy.
- 05
Transformer sizing
The transformer is sized for the load and tested before we finish.
- 06
Final aiming after dark
We come back after dark to aim each fixture once the system is running.
- 07
Ongoing service
We stay available for adjustments, maintenance and repairs.
Materials
Built for coastal Orange County
Salt air corrodes aluminum, so we install solid brass fixtures from FX Luminaire, SPJ, WAC Lighting and Unique Lighting. Every connection is sealed and waterproofed so moisture stays out of the wire. Brass fixtures carry a lifetime warranty, and drop-in LED lamps carry a 2-year warranty.
DIY or pro
DIY vs. professional installation
A DIY kit can work for a few path lights. A whole-property system needs a correctly sized transformer, planning for voltage drop across long wire runs, and wire buried where it will not be cut or exposed. In California, contractors installing this work need a C-7 license. Read our DIY vs. professional landscape lighting guide.
Pricing
Cost
Most projects fall between $3,500 and $8,500, depending on fixture count and property size. See the landscape lighting cost guide for Orange County.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
- How long does installation take?
- It depends on the size of the property, and we give you a schedule with your quote.
- Do you need a permit?
- Most low-voltage landscape lighting does not need a permit, but some line-voltage work, commercial projects and HOA communities have their own requirements. We confirm what applies to your property before work starts and handle HOA submittals when needed.
- Can you add to an existing system?
- Yes. We check the existing transformer, wire and fixtures first, then add new zones or fixtures where the system has capacity, or upgrade the transformer when it does not.
- Do you service systems you didn't install?
- Yes. We repair and maintain systems installed by other companies, including re-aiming, re-lamping, wire repair and transformer service.
